One of my favorite parts of a new year is picking out a word to describe what I want to focus on in this new season. For 2024 the word abundance just wouldn’t leave my brain.
A lot of my content last year on social media was about the pushback many of us face for wanting more in life. I was putting so much energy into trying to convince people that wanting more wasn’t a bad thing. Wanting more money doesn’t make you greedy. Having a powerful career as a woman doesn’t make her a bad mother. Having more than one dog doesn’t make you a crazy animal lover. You get my point.
So, when it came time to decide what singular word would and could summarize the upcoming year, I knew it was time to step away from trying to convince people that it was ok to want more. I have accepted that I am a person who wants to live a big life. Travel often, eat well, donate generously, take risks, and live in a place of abundance.
I am shifting away from the energy of trying to convince others and into a place of truly embodying someone who lives in abundance. An abundance of love. An abundance of money. And an abundance of opportunity.
During November of last year, I was in a coaching session with the infamous Robert Hartwell. He was coaching us all on moving away from feelings of scarcity and shared a mantra with us that inspired my own thoughts around abundance. He told us that every day we needed to remind ourselves that, “I am enough. There is enough. There will always be enough”.
This year, I look forward to sharing inspiration and insight on what it means to live in abundance. Don’t worry, from time to time I will still remind all the naysayers out there that wanting more money doesn’t make you greedy. And I do still firmly believe that more money in the hands of the right people do the right things. But living from a place of abundance allows me to focus on being the person that lives fearlessly, gives graciously, and loves endlessly.
